SICA-09D Porsche 956KH 1st Mugello 1983 #8 Marlboro The porsche 956 and later 962 models could be assembled with two different rear wing configuations: "low downforce", used mostly in LeMans where the 6.5km Hunaudieres straight required a very low drag at the expense of downforce, and "high downforce", for the twistier cicuits. Regardless of the configuration, Porsche 956 and 962 cars were the cars to beat in any Group C competition in the early 80's. Joest Racing, in the 1983, was one of the stongest private teams running the customer Porsche 956, provided by mechanical fuel injection. Their car number 8, driven by Stefan Johansson and Bob Wollek, finshed first in the Mugello 1000 Kilometers, in October, Bob Wollek won also the driver's title of European Endurance championship.
